The Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. C was a German medium armored personnel carrier from World War II, designed to carry a 2-man crew and 10 soldiers. As an open-topped half-track, it transported infantry and provided support in combat, typically using two 7.92 mm machine guns - initially the MG 34, and later the MG 42.

The vehicle enabled Panzergrenadiers to follow tanks even off-road. Its strengths included off-road mobility and protection against light fire and shrapnel; however, its thin armor and open fighting compartment limited the level of protection provided. Furthermore, the complex overlapping road-wheel suspension system required significant maintenance.

Compared to the A and B variants, the Ausf. C featured redesigned front armor and engine ventilation, and the front bumper was removed. Other improvements included better seating and equipment mounts within the interior. The Ausf. C was characteristic of the middle phase of the war and was replaced in 1943 by the Ausf. D, which was designed for more efficient production.
