The M3 Grant was a British variant of the American M3 medium tank and saw service during World War II, particularly in North Africa. Unlike the M3 Lee, the Grant featured a turret specifically designed for British requirements, with a modified radio and crew layout. Its main armament consisted of a 75 mm gun in a side-mounted hull casemate and a 37 mm gun in the turret. When the M3 Grant entered service in 1941, its 75 mm gun was superior to many enemy tanks, giving the Allied forces a significant advantage. Despite its tall silhouette and unusual arrangement of armament, the tank proved to be reliable and played a significant role in the battles of the British forces in North Africa until it was gradually replaced by the more modern M4 Sherman.
