The Sd.Kfz. 250/7 Ausf. A (leichter Schützenpanzerwagen 7 – light armored personnel carrier 7) was a specialized variant of the Sd.Kfz. 250 light half-track, equipped with a grenade launcher for direct fire support. It is one of the more practical and actually deployed variants of this vehicle family – unlike more experimental versions such as the 250/4.

The Sd.Kfz. 250/7 was introduced around 1941/42, based on the early "Alte" (Ausf. A) version. The purpose of this variant was to replace infantry-launched grenade launcher teams, improve reaction times, and enhance coordination with armored units. It was typically deployed in armored reconnaissance battalions and mechanized infantry units.

There were two typical deployment modes:
1. Vehicle-based firing

• Grenade launcher mounted in the fighting compartment
• Rapid deployment without setup
• Limited aiming range

2. Dismounted deployment (more frequent)

• Grenade launcher removed
• Set up on a base plate outside
• More precise and stable firing
