The Type 054B frigate is the newest frigate in the PLAN fleet and was commissioned and tested in 2023.
It is a further development of the Type 054A frigate and approximately 50% larger than its predecessor (displacement approximately 6,000 tons). Designated 555 and named "Qinzhou" (钦州), it is currently undergoing sea trials.
