DH.94 Moth Minor "Under the Southern Cross"

The DH.94 was produced for civilian customers until 1940, when production was converted to military use.
Civilian aircraft were requisitioned for the Royal Air Force (RAF) and used as courier and liaison aircraft.
One aircraft delivered to Egypt served with the USAAF during the war and carried American markings. Five DH.94s flew with the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) in New Zealand, and two former civilian aircraft were used for pilot training with the South African Air Force (SAAF) in South Africa.
All production tooling, unfinished aircraft, and materials for the DH.94 were shipped to the Australian subsidiary, De Havilland Australia, in 1940.
Production of the DH.94 was resumed there under contract to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), which eventually received forty DH.94 aircraft.
Production was discontinued in favor of the DH.82 Tiger Moth, which was selected as the RAAF's standard trainer.
DH.94s were used for RAAF pilot training until the end of the war.
The remaining aircraft were sold to civilian owners and played a significant role in the development of Australian sport flying.
Aircraft requisitioned during the war for the RAF and FAA were also returned to civilian owners. At least two DH.94s were converted to coupé versions after the war.
Some aircraft are still in service today in Great Britain, Australia, and the USA.
