The Ninja H2R is not a standard road-legal superbike, but a motorcycle developed uncompromisingly for use on closed circuits. Its technical heart is the 998cc inline-four engine equipped with a mechanical supercharger. It is precisely this supercharger that makes the H2R exceptional. Unlike almost all conventional production motorcycles, the intake air is pre-compressed. This allows the engine to achieve extreme specific power output. For the 2018 model, the rated power is approximately 310 hp, rising to around 326 hp with the Ram-Air effect. This is extraordinary for a motorcycle weighing just over 200 kg.
