The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet is a single-seat, carrier-based multi-role fighter aircraft operated by the U.S. Navy. Although it bears a strong external resemblance to the older F/A-18C/D Hornet, it is a significantly larger and largely redesigned development. The two-seat variant bears the designation F/A-18F.

The Super Hornet made its maiden flight on November 29, 1995, began delivery to the U.S. Navy in 1999, and achieved operational readiness in 2001. Since then, it—along with the F/A-18F—has become one of the most important combat aircraft for American carrier strike groups.

Strike Fighter Squadron 192 (VFA-192), known as the "World Famous Golden Dragons," is a U.S. Navy fighter-bomber squadron with a rich history. It currently flies the single-seat Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet and is part of Carrier Air Wing Two (CVW-2). Its home base is Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
