The Sd.Kfz. 182 Tiger II with the so-called "Porsche turret" was an early version of the German Tiger II heavy tank from 1944/45. The name originated because the turret design was initially intended for a Porsche prototype. Characteristic features included the rounded front of the turret and the curved shape of the sides. The Tiger II was armed with the powerful 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun, which could engage Allied tanks at long range. Despite its heavy armor and high firepower, the vehicle suffered from its considerable weight, high fuel consumption, and technical vulnerabilities.

The Tiger II saw action in Normandy, during the Battle of the Bulge and on the Eastern Front, and was considered one of the most powerful, but also most complex, German tanks of the Second World War.
