The Humber Light Reconnaissance Car Mk. III was a light British armored reconnaissance vehicle of the Second World War, used particularly in the North African campaign. Developed from a civilian Humber chassis, the vehicle was designed for reconnaissance, courier, and security duties. Thanks to its improved 4x4 drive, the Mk. III version was well-suited to the challenging desert terrain. The Humber was powered by a 4.1-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine producing approximately 80 to 87 hp, enabling speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph). The crew consisted of three men, and the vehicle was typically armed with a Bren machine gun and a Boys anti-tank rifle. However, its light armor offered only limited protection. Despite this weakness, the Humber proved itself in Africa as a fast and reliable reconnaissance vehicle and remained in service until the end of the war.
