The M5 Stuart entered service in 1942 and was powered by two Cadillac V8 engines.
Despite its limited firepower, the M5 retained its predecessor's 37 mm gun and remained in production until 1944, when it was replaced by the M24 Chaffee.
The reconnaissance variant was a Stuart tank without a turret.
These tanks performed better due to the absence of a turret.
