GMC CCKW 2 1/2ton 6x6 Airfield Fuel Truck

The 2 1/2-tonne tanker was an important cog in the US military's wheel during the Second World War, supporting the Americans' quest for air superiority through its service in refuelling aircraft.
It was a variant of the 2 1/2-tonne truck in which the cargo area was replaced by a tank body and a pump mechanism.
It was usually manned by a crew of two, had a 6-wheel drive, which enabled it to negotiate poor surfaces, and was powered by a 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine.
It proved particularly useful when the USA began to conquer airfields near the front that had no refuelling facilities.
