Tiger I initial s.Pz.Abt 502 Leningrad 1942

A platoon of four Tiger Is was deployed near Leningrad on September 23, 1942.
Because they were deployed in the swampy, wooded terrain, their movement was largely limited to roads and tracks, which significantly limited their operational capability.
Many of these early Tigers had problems with their transmissions, which could not cope with the vehicle's heavy weight.
It took some time for the drivers to learn not to overload the engine and transmission.
One of the Tigers got stuck in the swampy terrain and had to be abandoned.
It was recovered largely undamaged, allowing the Soviets to analyze its design.
