Finnish BT-42 Assault Gun

FLYHAWK
The BT-42 was a unique Finnish assault gun, developed out of necessity and improvisation during World War II.

It was based on the chassis of the Soviet BT-7 light tank, dozens of which Finland had captured during the Winter War (1939–1940) and the Continuation War (1941–1944).

Rather than scrapping these vehicles, Finnish engineers decided to convert them into assault guns.

To do so, they modified the turret and installed a British 114 mm (4.5 in) howitzer, specifically the QF 4.5 in Howitzer Mk II, which Finland had received from Great Britain during the war.
