The Japanese GT Championship launched in 1993 and grew increasingly popular among motorsport fans in Japan. For the 1995 season, Toyota entered the competition with a race-tuned version of the renowned Supra GT. The Supra's bodywork incorporated the latest track technology, achieving superior aerodynamics. Additional air intakes, a massive rear spoiler, and oversized fenders gave the Toyota Supra GT its distinctive appearance. Sekiya and Krumm delivered an outstanding performance during the 1995 season driving the Castrol Tom’s Supra.
