Republic P-47C-2/5 „Thunderbolt“ w/ Ferry tank

The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt undoubtedly plays a significant role in the history of military aviation.
This single-seat, low-wing fighter/fighter-bomber was distinguished by its powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 twin-row radial engine, producing over 2,000 hp. This engine enabled it to achieve considerable speeds, especially at high altitudes, and ensured exceptional operational flexibility.
The P-47 was effective both as an escort fighter for bombers and as a lethal aircraft for ground support and attack missions.
Extremely robust in its airframe construction, it was heavily armed with eight 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine guns and could be equipped with bombs and rockets to enhance its offensive capabilities.
From 1943 onward, it was successfully deployed by the United States on various fronts.
