The Chinese AFT-1 multi-purpose anti-tank missile system was a mobile anti-tank vehicle used by the People's Liberation Army to engage main battle tanks, armored vehicles, and fortified positions. It belonged to a series of anti-tank vehicles equipped with guided anti-tank missiles, designed to combine high mobility with effective firepower. The system was based on a lightly armored vehicle with a missile launcher mounted on it. This allowed it to operate from concealed positions, engage targets at longer ranges, and then quickly reposition to avoid return fire. The AFT-1 was developed as part of the modernization of China's anti-tank forces and drew inspiration from similar concepts from the Soviet Union and the West. Although later superseded by more modern systems with greater range and more powerful guided missiles, the AFT-1 represented a significant development and laid the foundation for subsequent Chinese AFT family of anti-tank vehicles.
