Marder I 7.5cm Pak.40/1 on a Gw.Lr.s.(f) Sd.kfz.135
The Marder I 7.5 cm Pak 40/1 on Lorraine Schlepper (f) chassis, Sd.Kfz. 135, was a German tank destroyer of World War II. It was developed from 1942 onwards by converting captured French Lorraine 37L tracked tractors, which became available in large numbers after the Battle of France. The powerful 7.5 cm Pak 40 anti-tank gun was mounted on the chassis to provide the Wehrmacht with a mobile and effective weapon against Allied and Soviet tanks.

The conversion was carried out by the Alkett company. The original superstructure was removed and replaced with an open-topped fighting compartment in which the Pak 40 was installed. The gun could engage most Allied tanks of its time at long ranges. However, the crew was only protected by thin armor plating and was partially exposed to the roof and rear, making them vulnerable to artillery fire, infantry weapons, and air attacks.

The Marder I was primarily deployed on the Western Front, in France, and later during the fighting following the Allied landings in Normandy. Some vehicles also saw service on the Eastern Front. Its greatest strength was the combination of high firepower and sufficient mobility, while its light armor and high silhouette were considered significant drawbacks.

A total of approximately 170 vehicles were built. The Marder I was an interim solution with which the Wehrmacht bolstered its anti-tank defenses in the short term until better-protected tank destroyers such as the Jagdpanzer IV or the Jagdpanther became available. Despite its shortcomings, it made an important contribution to German anti-tank warfare during the middle years of the war.

50-ton Type SSy45 flatcar (Schwerer Plattformwagen)
The SSy45 Heavy Platform Wagon was a four-axle German heavy-duty flatbed truck used during World War II for transporting particularly heavy military and civilian goods. Thanks to its robust steel construction and high load-bearing capacity, it was particularly suitable for transporting battle tanks, self-propelled guns, heavy artillery, and other large vehicles and loads. The four axles ensured even weight distribution and enabled the safe transport of heavy cargo over long distances. In military operations, the SSy45 played a crucial role in moving tank units and heavy equipment between different sectors of the front. After the war, some of these wagons remained in service and continued to be used by European railway companies for heavy transport. Due to its high load-bearing capacity and versatility, the SSy45 is one of the best-known German heavy-load freight wagons of its time.
