The M39 series of 5-ton cargo trucks were the workhorses of the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. They not only transported supplies and troops, but were also used as dump trucks in engineer units designated the M51.
It had a 3.0 m long dump body with a 3.8 m³ capacity, cab protection, and a tailgate that could be folded up or down.
They could be equipped with bows, tarpaulins, and troop seats.
These standard trucks were also a common sight among U.S. units stationed in Germany.
