Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II (1:72)

The F-35 is available in three versions: A for the Air Force, B for the Marines, and C for the Navy. Development was under the JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) program, and the F-35 was intended to represent the fifth generation of fighter jets. The aircraft features a sophisticated stealth design, a state-of-the-art network, and countless sensors that provide all the data needed for the pilot and computer. The F-35C was developed as the successor to the F/A-18 and is a so-called CATOBAR (catapult-assisted takeoff but arrested recovery) aircraft.
Compared to the F-35A, the F-35C features larger wings with folding wingtip sections, larger control surfaces for improved low-speed control, stronger landing gear to withstand the stresses of carrier landings, a dual-wheel nose gear, and a stronger arresting hook for use with launcher cables. The larger wing area allows for a reduced landing speed while increasing both range and payload.
