The Mk103/38 was a late war version of Rheinmetall Borsig's four-gun 3cm autocannon Mk103.
The Mk103 was an electrically fired, recoil-operated and gas-operated automatic intended to be used against air and ground targets.
It had a rate of fire of 280 rounds per minute with high explosive (HE) rounds and 420 rounds per minute when firing armor piercing rounds.
The experimental four-gun installation proved problematic as the mount was originally designed for the smaller 2 cm Flak 38 and severe vibrations took their toll on both the equipment and the crew aiming the weapon.
