Russian Long Range Rocket Launcher 9A52-2 Smerch

The 9A52 Smerch long-range rocket launcher, developed by the Russian State Research and Production Corporation Splav, entered service in 1987.
Its variant, the 9A52-2, is currently the long-range attack firearm of the Russian Army.
It mainly provides fire support, suppressing and destroying enemy troops in the area of ​​operations.
If necessary, it can be used to reinforce an attack unit.
The 9A52 Smerch is based on a MAZ-7310 chassis.
The rocket launcher contains twelve 300 mm launch tubes.
Its minimum and maximum firing ranges are 20 km and 90 km, respectively.
It is equipped with an inertial guidance system with a laser gyroscope.
It can fire a variety of missiles with different warheads, such as anti-personnel cluster bombs, incendiary cluster bombs, fuel-air explosives, and mine-laying cluster bombs.
It is one of the most modern rocket launchers in the world.
