The VW Type 128 Kübelwagen with a swimable, self-supporting tub, a foldable propeller and all-wheel drive.
The first prototypes were presented in 1940 and limited series production began in 1941.
With a wheelbase of 2.40 m, the long tub did not offer sufficient stability.
For this reason, replacement by the shorter VW Type 166 floating bucket began as early as 1942.
