The Churchill was a British infantry tank used in World War II.
It was best known for its heavy armor, large hull with wrap-around tracks, and ability to climb steep slopes.
It is considered one of the heaviest Allied tanks of the war.
675 Churchill Mk IIIs were built.
In this batch, the hull armament was changed and the tank received a more powerful Ordnance QF 6-pounder 84-round gun.
Unlike previous versions, it got a new welded turret.
Operation Jubilee or "The Dieppe Raid" on August 19, 1942 was an Allied amphibious assault on the German-held port of Dieppe in northern France. Over 6050 soldiers, mostly Canadians - supported by a tank regiment - were brought ashore by a naval force.
After less than six hours, mounting casualties forced a retreat. The operation turned into a fiasco.
