Panzerjäger "Nashorn" Sd.Kfz.164

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben

The Nashorn self-propelled anti-tank gun had tremendous penetrating power thanks to its 8.8cm Pak43/1 L/71.
The vehicle was hastily developed after the German army unexpectedly encountered such superior opponents as the T34 and KV-1 during its invasion of the Soviet Union.
The newly developed Gun Carriage III/IV served as a carrier vehicle for the gun, which was capable of destroying enemy tanks from a far distance.
Thanks to its relatively light weight of 24 tons, it reached a top speed of 42 km/h.
While its service began in July 1943 under the name Hornisse, from January of the following year it received the new designation Nashorn, allegedly on Hitler's orders.
By March 1945, 439 examples had been produced and were used on both the Eastern and Western fronts.
