Panther Ausf. A early

The Panther Ausf. A was the early production version that marked the beginning of the development of the Panther series of tanks.
Its production began in the fall of 1943.
To address the shortcomings of the Panther Ausf. D, the Panther Ausf. A featured optimized protection and improved reliability of the propulsion system.
It was equipped with a new commander's cupola.
However, some features of the Panther Ausf. D were retained.
As operational experience increased, the shortcomings of the Panther tanks were addressed in the Panther Ausf. A.
