M561 Gama Goat Cargo Truck 6X6

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The M561 Gama Goat, which entered service in 1966 as an all-terrain amphibious vehicle, was a 6x6 powered truck consisting of a 4-wheel tractor and a 2-wheel cargo module.
What distinguished it from other vehicles of its type, however, was the use of an articulation between the two modules that allowed them to move independently of each other: an extremely useful capability when traversing rough terrain.
Produced until 1973, the 14000 Gama Goats were used by both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps in various capacities and were involved in the fighting in Grenada in 1983.
They were then decommissioned in the early 1990s.
The first half of its unusual nickname comes from Roger Gamaunt, the designer of the key joint, and the second half from its tough, goat-like climbing ability.
