M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight"

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The M4 Sherman was undoubtedly one of the symbols of the Second World War.
It was used in large numbers and numerous variants to counter the strong threat from the German Panzerwaffe.
One of these variants was the M4A3E8 which incorporated improvements from the combat experience of the US Tank Corps. These included a late production welded hull and the 76mm gun.
It also featured the new HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension) horizontal suspension and wider tracks, which earned the M4A3E8 the nickname "Easy Eight" and gave it a much more comfortable ride.
They were first used in December 1944 as part of the 4th Armored Division under the overall command of General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, helping to liberate the besieged city of Bastogne.
