German Motorcycle Orderly Set

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben

Founded in 1919, the German motorbike manufacturer DKW gained international recognition in the 1930s as a producer of finely crafted two-stroke racing motorbikes.
The Wehrmacht initially showed no interest in the two-stroke engine produced by DKW.
In 1938, however, it decided to use the 11 hp single-cylinder two-stroke engine of the DKW NZ 350.
In 1940, production of the NZ 350/1 version, specially modified for the Wehrmacht, began.
This new model featured a cast iron engine block, a centrifugal air filter and reinforcing struts from the frame to an additional luggage rack.
Although it proved unsuitable for heavy off-road use, its light weight and ease of handling made it ideal as a courier bike in Europe, North Africa and Russia during the Second World War.
