Israeli Merkava Main Battle Tank Mk. I

The Merkava series is a range of main battle tanks used by the Israel Defense Forces and forms the backbone of the IDF's armoured corps. The tank began development in 1970 and the Merkava Mark 1 officially entered service in 1979.
Dr Merkava Mark I is the original design of the series, and was designed for mass production.
The Mark I weighed 63 tonnes and had a 908 hp diesel engine with a power-to-weight ratio of 14 hp/tonne. It was armed with the 105 millimetre M64 L71A gun, two 7.62 mm aschinen rifles for infantry defence[17] and an externally mounted 60 mm mortar.
