It was as good as any British battleship.
Its appearance put the Royal Navy on high alert.
Its speed and armament were among the best in the world.
In 1941, the ship was intercepted on its first voyage by the powerful British fleet. Although Bismarck and Prinz Eugen sank HMS Hood, it was eventually sunk in the North Atlantic.
