The Char 2C was a French super-heavy tank developed during the final phase of World War I. It remains the largest tank ever produced in the world. It was developed by the French shipyard Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée (FCM) near Toulon. It had a crew of 12 men. Its main armament consisted of a 75 mm cannon and four 8 mm machine guns as secondary armament. It was 10.27 m long and 3 m wide and weighed 69 t when loaded. It was powered by two 250 hp German Maybach engines via an electric transmission. It could travel at speeds of 12–15 km/h. Its armor - 45 mm at the front and 22 mm on the sides - could withstand attacks with anti-tank weapons in the 1920s and 1930s. Most interestingly, the 10 Char 2Cs ever produced were named after old regions of France such as Alsace, Normandy, Poteau, and others.
