Designed as a high-speed unarmed bomber, the twin-engined De Havilland Mosquito performed these and many other tasks for the RAF and other Allied air forces during the Second World War, achieving such amazing feats that the aircraft was nicknamed the "Wooden Wonder". (The aircraft was largely made of wood).
The fighter-bomber variant FB Mk.VI, which first appeared in the skies in the spring of 1943, was very powerful with four 7.7mm machine guns in the nose and four powerful 20mm machine guns, as well as the ability to carry four 500lb bombs.
With some 2700 produced, it was the most frequently produced Mosquito variant. D
his powerful multi-role aircraft was used to attack sensitive enemy targets such as, V1 launch pads and munitions factories, using its low-level precision bomber capabilities.
