Vought V-173 "Flying Pancake"

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The Vought V-173 "Flying Pancake" was an American experimental aircraft built during World War II as part of the Vought XF5U programme.

Both the V-173 and the XF5U featured an unorthodox "flying wing" design consisting of flat, somewhat disc-shaped bodies (hence the nickname) that served as a lifting surface.
Two piston engines integrated into the body of the aircraft drove the propellers, which were located at the leading edge of the wingtips.
