The Zündapp KS 750 was one of the most technically sophisticated military motorcycles of the Second World War. Developed specifically for the German Wehrmacht, it - along with the BMW R 75 - became one of the most well-known heavy, off-road motorcycle combinations of the era.

A particularly interesting configuration consisted of the Zündapp KS 750, a driven sidecar, and an If. 8 infantry trailer. This setup combined the off-road capability of a heavy motorcycle with additional transport capacity, serving roles such as supply, transport, and liaison.

The military sidecar designed for the KS 750 is designated as the BW 40/BW 43.

Its characteristic features included:
  • A robust, off-road-capable design with a driven wheel
  • Seating for one soldier with equipment
  • Storage compartments for tools, ammunition, and accessories
  • A spare wheel mounted at the rear of the sidecar
  • A mount for a machine gun, depending on the specific version and intended use
On appropriately equipped vehicles, an MG 34 or MG 42 machine gun could be carried or operated from the sidecar.

The combination was generally designed to carry up to three soldiers with their equipment. However, it was by no means used exclusively as an armed reconnaissance vehicle; it frequently served as a transport and liaison vehicle as well.

The If. 8 infantry trailer was a small, two-wheeled transport cart used by the German Wehrmacht. It was developed to reduce the load carried by infantry and to enable the transport of equipment over greater distances. The designation "If." stands for Infanteriefahrzeug (infantry vehicle), while the number 8 denotes the specific type of equipment. Its primary advantage was its versatility: it could be pulled by soldiers using a suitable drawbar, or - with the appropriate coupling - towed behind a motorized vehicle.
