Douglas A-20 B/ C Boston with UTK-1 Turret

The Douglas A-20 Boston was an American medium bomber and one of the most successful military aircraft of World War II.
The Soviet Air Force and Naval Aviation operated nearly three thousand of these aircraft, making them the second largest users of the type after the US Army Air Force.
In the Soviet Union, it soon became apparent that the rear gunners suffered too much from the harsh winter conditions on the Eastern Front and that the small-calibre machine gun was not up to the demands of the battlefield.
It was therefore decided to equip the Soviet A-20 bombers with UTK-1 type turrets and partly with a different armament.
The new turret changed the side profile of the aircraft quite dramatically.
