German 5 cm Anti Tank Gun PaK 38

The Pak 38 5 cm gun was first delivered to units in July 1940 and was the successor to the 3.7 cm Pak 36. It featured improved design features such as a muzzle brake, aluminum alloy spars, and a gun shield made of two 4 mm thick plates. It penetrated 61 mm of 60-degree armor with Type 39 armor-piercing shells from a distance of 500 meters. The Pak 38 was first deployed in the Balkans in the spring of 1941 and saw service from the Eastern Front to North Africa. 9,600 examples of this reliable weapon were produced by 1943.
