The Messerschmitt Me262 A-2a with Kettenkraftrad ground vehicle is back for a limited time only!

The limited edition model kit depicts the Me262, the first jet fighter ever used in combat.
The kit also includes Tamiya's first 1/48 scale military ground vehicle, the Kettenkraftrad, which was used on Me262 A-2a airfields during the war.

About the Messerschmitt Me262 A-2a:

The Me262 A-2a was the fighter/bomber version of the Me262.
As Allied bombing raids on the German homeland rapidly increased, the Luftwaffe proposed accelerated use of the revolutionary jet fighter/interceptor Me262 A-1a.
Hitler, however, issued strict orders to the contrary, giving priority to the use of the A-2a fighter/bomber version of the Me262.
In June 1944, the A-2a fighter/bomber began to be used.
The A-2a was equipped with only two 30 mm MK108 guns (compared to the four guns of the A-1a), but had an additional fuel tank in the rear of its fuselage and could carry up to one tonne of bomb payload.
The Me262 A-2a was in active service until the end of World War II.

About the Kettenkraftrad:
The German Wehrmacht produced a unique half-track vehicle used on the front lines known as the NSU Kettenkraftrad.
Originally intended for use in airborne troops, this vehicle went into large-scale production and was used for a variety of functions, such as transport, communications and towing duties.
Due to fuel shortages at the end of the war, the Me262's self-propelled ground movement was limited during take-off positioning.
Therefore, the Kettenkraftrad and other ground vehicles were used to pull the Me262 to the runway.
